Your child will have grown throughout Social Distancing – wait until you try their school uniform on them… you’ll soon notice the difference. But there is something else you need to check, that could be life saving for them. Their car seat!
Top 5 checks
Harness
Does it need adjusting, is it still at the correct position for your child. If you’ve taken the opportunity to give it a clean, whilst it hasn’t been in use, make sure you’ve put the harness back on correctly and it isn’t twisted.
Height & Weight
Is it still the correct seat for your child? (Don’t be in a rush to change if you don’t need to).
Seat Adjustments
Most seats can adjust as your child grows. Sit your child in the seat and check that the headrest, arms and anything that can be adjusted are in the correct position. You may need to have a play around and do several sit and checks with your child to make sure they are sitting correctly.
Seatbelt Routing
Have you cleaned and vacuumed the car during this time? Has the car seat been put back in correctly? Just have a double check that the seatbelt is routed correctly and isn’t twisted at all. Also check the seatbelt tension and that the seat is in tight enough.
Isofix
Are the anchors clicked in and has the top tether or foot prop been out back correctly? Foot props and top tethers are important anchor points for the seat, they are not optional. Double check these are as they should be.
