Via provides a specialised Data Collection and Analysis service using a variety of different technologies and installations.

Our expert team can implement and install a range of different collection methods including:

  • manual and automatic traffic counts
  • vehicle turning counts
  • pedestrian surveys
  • cycle counts and surveys

  • speed surveys
  • interview surveys
  • origin and destination surveys.

Tube Sites

Pneumatic tubes installed in the carriageway as a temporary data collection point. These will gather data such as total vehicles, vehicle classification and speed of vehicles.

These can be used on a larger scale deployment for before and after data relating to developments of land.

Camera Sites

Used for temporary deployment, these can provide turning counts, passing counts, pedestrian and cycle numbers and direction, and journey time surveys. We can also use these to monitor parking bay usage, and main pedestrian routes and flows.

Manual Surveys

The traditional method of having people on street can provide turning counts, vehicle classification, pedestrian and cycle surveys, along with journey to work questionnaires, bus punctuality surveys and assist in larger scheme consultations.

Permanent Loop Sites

We have a number of permanent loop sites situated around the county network in strategic locations and gather information about total vehicles, vehicle classification, speed of vehicles and more. This data can be made available to external parties for a fee.

Pedestrian Counters

Our pedestrian counters can measure changes in the volume and flow of pedestrians. We have deployed these for clients within shopping centres to ascertain entry / exit footfall when determining changes to store layout.
