Skatepark, The Hook

Rushcliffe Borough Council

The Hook, Holme Road In Ladybay

March 2019

The old skatepark had deteriorated and fire damage resulted in its closure in 2017.  The design for the new skatepark was led by the user group as key stakeholders and community consultation was undertaken.

Via East Midlands Ltd were commissioned by Rushcliffe Borough Council to carry out site investigation work on the site and to project manage the construction of the new skatepark.  The project team included Dave Collins, Andy Bryan and Nancy Ashbridge.

Procurement was via the ESPO Framework and three specialist contractors submitted tenders for the design and build project.  Together with Rushcliffe Borough Council and Via East Midlands Ltd, the user group helped to score the designs submitted. Maverick Industries Ltd were the successful tenderer.

The concrete skatepark was constructed to a high standard, ahead of schedule and to budget.

The new skatepark at The Hook, off Holme Road in Ladybay, opened in March 2019 and has been well used since the day of practical completion.

The budget for the skatepark was £199.454.00 and was funded by Rushcliffe Borough Council and Sport England.
