204 Hand held Tools including Operating Hand Held Drills/Screwdrivers

Course Overview:

This course aims to provide employees currently working in the Highways Electrical Sector the skills and knowledge of the hazards and risks associated with hand and power tools.

Course Content:

• Review of Legislation and Guidance for the correct use of work equipment
• Safe use of non-powered Hand tools
• Correct use and application of powered handheld Drills and Screwdrivers
• Storage of handheld Drills and Screwdrivers
• Safety criteria and PPE
• Theory assessment

Course Objectives:

• Recognize hazards and associated risks when using non-powered Hand Tools
• Understand and be able to state the hazards involved when using Powered Tools
• Understand what PPE is needed when using handheld Tools
• Identify how to correctly store Hand Tools
• State the requirements for the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
• Be able to correctly pre-check and test handheld Drills and Screwdrivers before use
• Correctly use handheld powered Drills on a range of materials

Additional Information:

This half day course is delivered in line with the requirements of the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS).

All Learners will be required to fill in the Pre-requisite form before attending the course

The Learner is required to bring with them, all required and appropriate PPE that is fit for purpose without defect for the task (please enquire if unsure)
