Course Overview:

This course is designed to provide the necessary skills required to understand and correctly use the equipment for avoiding danger from underground services to employees working within the Highways Electrical sector.

Course Content:

  • Outlining the associated dangers, required PPE and the safe system of works
  • Review of Plans/site drawings and how to use them correctly
  • Identification of the various Underground Services
  • Using the Genny
  • Introduction to Excavation
  • Understand the Cat & Genny functions
  • Practical Assessment

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course learners will

  • Identify the associated hazards
  • Understand and Identify a Safe System of work
  • Effectively use Site Drawings to correctly locate and identify underground services
  • Understand the need for Underground Service Avoidance
  • Correctly use the Cable Avoidance Tool
  • Correctly use the Generator and Ancillary equipment
  • Understand the need for Safe Excavation and Digging

Additional Information:

This full day course is delivered in line with the requirements of the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS).

All Learners will be required to fill in the Pre-requisite form before attending the course

The Learner is required to bring with them, all required and appropriate PPE that is fit for purpose without defect for the task (please enquire if unsure)
