Course Overview:

This two-day course is for both operatives and supervisors who already hold the New Roads and Street Works Card.

Anyone carrying out work on the public highways must be reassessed every 5 years.

Course Content:

This two-day course is designed for operatives and supervisors who need to renew their streetworks (SWQR) cards, in line with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, code of practice.
The units that will be renewed are largely dependent on the Units each candidate has on their original card.

Standard Operative Units we deliver are:

• LA KEY CERTIFICATE: Location & avoidance of underground apparatus.
• 01 KEY CERTIFICATE: Signing, lighting & guarding.
• O2: Excavation in the highway.
• O3: Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials.
• O4: Reinstatement of sub-base and road-base in non-bituminous materials.
• O5: Reinstatement in cold-lay bituminous materials.
• O6 : Reinstatement in hot-lay bituminous materials.
• O8: Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.

Standard Supervisor Units we deliver are:

  • LA KEY CERTIFICATE: Location & avoidance of underground apparatus.
  • S1 KEY CERTIFICATE: Monitoring signing, lighting & guarding.
  • S2: Monitoring excavation in the highway.
  • S3: Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials.
  • S4: Monitoring reinstatement of sub-base & road-base in non-bituminous materials.
  • S5: Monitoring reinstatement in bituminous materials.
  • S7: Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.

Course Objectives:

The aim of the NRSWA Refresher course is to refresh and reassess your knowledge of the content for the units you already hold as part of your current Street Works qualification (as stated on the back of your SWQR card).

During this course, delegates will have the opportunity to update their knowledge through revision sessions prior to taking the written tests for the units they already hold. This course is a classroom-based theory course.

Additional Information:

Reassessment cannot be completed earlier than 6 months prior to the expiry date of the qualification and must be completed no later than 5 months after the expiry (to allow for the reapplication of the SWQR card).

The NRSWA refresher training group may contain a mix of both Operatives and Supervisors. Please note that learners will only be able to complete the refresher units they already currently hold as part of this course.

Delegates must bring their existing SWQR card shoring their existing units.

Delegates will be required to refresh this course every 5 years to renew their street works card.
