Hucknall Flying High Academy – Highway Works Package
Arc Partnership
Hucknall, Flying High Academy
August 2019
Client Challenges
The school was due to open for its first intake of pupils in the first week of September 2019 but the external highway works to create a new access into the school, together with a new pedestrian crossing and new footway routes were running behind schedule.
The delivery of the new school was of political importance and it was essential that safe walking routes to the new school were available for pupils, parents and staff from the first day of opening.
Via East Midlands were asked to deliver the highway works to an accelerated programme to achieve completion before the school opening date.
Our Solution
Via East Midlands successfully delivered the project to a compressed six-week programme by calling upon our experienced in-house construction and electrical teams and by close liaison with our colleagues working in Consultancy.
We co-ordinated our works with Kier who were the principal contractor for the school site to ensure that their works were not disrupted whilst we were working at multiple locations outside the school.
The works were completed on time and on budget despite the time pressures and the Project Manager for ARC Partnership was very satisfied with the way that Via delivered the project in a safe and professional manner.
Partners/Contractors
ARC Partnership were the Project Managers and Kier were the Principal Contractor. All site resources were provided by Via Operations with the exception of carriageway lining work which was completed by our framework sub-contractor Riggotts.
