We design of bridge strengthening and replacement schemes to achieve required highway loading capacity. Various solutions include arch bridge strengthening by concrete saddle and over slabbing, bridge deck placement, propping and underfilling.
Via’s Structures team can provide all types of maintenance and improvement work including waterproofing and bridge joint replacement, parapet replacement and protection, concrete and masonry repairs, scour repairs and protection, major and general maintenance painting.
We can provide capacity assessment checks of highway bridges of various construction and material types including masonry arch, cast and wrought iron, pre-stressed and reinforced concrete. Capacity assessment for abnormal load routing can also be undertaken.
We undertake principal and general inspection of highway structures over all obstacle types including major rivers and railways – organising necessary traffic management, specialist access equipment/vehicles, and track possessions of the railways. We are also able to arrange specialist underwater and confined space inspections as required.
We can also give technical approval of highway structures in accordance with departmental standard BD2/12 for developer proposals prepared by external consultants with category 2 and 3 independent design checks of structural proposals.
